SET IN 1922 ON A REMOTE LIGHTHOUSE ISLAND OFF THE STORMY WEST COAST, THE KEEPER IS A TAUT PSYCHO-SEXUAL THRILLER THAT FOCUSES ON A TUMULTUOUS AND TANGLED TRIANGLE BETWEEN TWO MEN AND A WOMAN.
Andrew Gunn, a haunted, self-exiled, WWI officer, arrives at an isolated lighthouse to replace an assistant gone missing in a storm. Andrew is a man who has seen too much, but his Keeper, Oliver Wells, is a boy who has seen too little. Oliver’s hermetic life on an acre of rock has left him ignorant in the ways of men and women, yet as a lightkeeper, he is a savant. His gentle mentoring helps Andrew find refuge in harshest nature… until nature delivers them the one thing they would both kill for – a woman.
The lone survivor of a wreck, Sarah appears to Oliver as a gift from the sea. But Andrew is not so sure. Her mail-order bride story doesn’t seem to add up. And as Oliver’s obsession with her grows, so does the tension within the shifting triangle. Oliver’s misguided love and naïve transgressions become distinctly creepy, and Andrew suspects the disappearance of the last Assistant was not an accident. When the siren Sarah comes to him for protection, the Keeper’s punishment goes beyond hard discipline. Cast into the kind of conflict he seeks to avoid, Andrew must contend with the most dangerous force of all – himself. The Keeper may hold the keys, but it’s the dark officer in Andrew’s past that will determine who survives.
At the core of The Keeper is a power shift between three people, a fight for control. And who ever is in control is about to lose it.
