Canada In A Day is a 90-minute prime time television event set to coincide with Canada’s sesquicentennial. A groundbreaking experiment in crowd-sourced documentary, it is a celebration and discussion of Canada from the unfiltered perspective of Canadians themselves.
Executive produced by acclaimed director Ridley Scott, Canada In A Day began with a cross-platform campaign to compel Canadians across the country and around the world to film their lives on a single day of the year — September 10th, 2016, and to uploaded their videos to www.CanadaInADay.ca.
Canadians responded overwhelmingly with submissions from over 10,000 citizens from all the provinces and territories, from 22 countries outside of Canada and in 18 different languages. They shot on their phones and video cameras, and answered four questions selected by celebrated filmmaker Trish Dolman.
“We asked: What do you love? What do you fear? What do you hope or dream for? What does Canada mean to you?”
Based on Scott Free’s successful ‘In A Day’ franchise that began with Kevin MacDonald’s Life In A Day and then extended to multiple other countries, Canada In A Day has been one of the most successful iterations to date.
The result is a video time capsule from the people of Canada to all fellow Canadians on the occasion of 150 years of our nation’s confederation.
