David Vaisbord

Director

David Vaisbord’s passion for documentary filmmaking began at the Emily Carr Institute of Art & Design in the mid 1980’s but it wasn’t until the early 1990’s with the death of his Uncle Mischa, a great European violin virtuoso, that he directed his first major project. Since then he has directed four additional feature documentaries, series television and acted as Executive Producer or Mentor on several documentaries. Credits include Mischa (1997), Juicy Danger Meets Burning Man (1998) and Britannia Beach (2002). With the completion of Drawing Out the Demons (2004), David turns his attention to a new docu-drama Dark Pines on the mystery of the legendary painter/woodsman Tom Tomson, set to go into production in 2004.

David is a graduate of the University of British Columbia and Emily Carr Institute of Art and Design, speaks fluent French, and resides in Vancouver with partner Sheril Gelmon and young daughter Madeleine.
