Amie Williams

Director

Amie Williams is an accomplished documentary film producer/director and the writer/director of the feature film Jua Kali (Harsh Sun) that is in development with Screen Siren Pictures. Most recently she has directed No Sweat, a documentary about bad boy clothing manufacturer Dove Charney, owner of American Apparel, taking the garment industry by storm, which screened at the AFI festival in 2006. The film was slated for national broadcast in 2006. In 2005 for PBS, Amie directed Fallon, NV Deadly Oasis about a childhood leukemia cluster in a small military town in Nevada (an ITVS-Lincs Production, in association with KLVX, The Las Vegas affiliate station). Amie has been accepted to the 2007 Film Independent Director’s Lab with her first feature Jua Kali (Harsh Sun).

She is the Executive Director of the non-profit film/video production company, Bal Maiden Films/DSG Productions based in Los Angeles, CA. Specializing in film and video for community groups, unions and related organizations working on immigrant rights, social justice and labor issues, Amie has more recently forayed into screenwriting, developing stories from her documentary background into narrative feature films.
